If you are arriving at Verona Airport, this article will be helpful. I’ll tell you how to get to Verona by public transport and taxi, rent a car at the airport, and how to get to other cities and resorts in Italy.

See the map of Verona airport at the link

The airport is very small, but there is everything you need.

Verona Airport is located 10 km from the city.

It accepts flights of such airlines as Alitalia, Airfrance, Aeroflot, Lufthansa, S7, Ural Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Germanwings, Flybe, AirMoldova, etc.

Prices for a flight to Verona:

UPD 18 July 2019:

There are tax fre at Verona Airport. The procedure is standard: first put a stamp at customs (on the Dogana / customs diagram in the center of the departure hall), then receive the money in Tax Refund. The main “setup” – do not return in euros, and the dollar is almost 1: 1 + some hellish commissions. My 23 euros smoothly turned … into 14 dollars.

It might be worth choosing a credit card refund to avoid commissions.

“To receive a credit card return, fill out the form, entering your credit card details and send by mail. The mailbox is located outside the departure terminal.

Cash refunds are made until 17:00 in the departure lounge, after 17:00 at the cash desk of the arrival hall. “

Perhaps in the arrivals hall you can get in euros (but this is not accurate). After security control and passport control, I have not seen any return offices, the room is small enough, there are only toilets and a couple of kiosks with drinks.

You can also send an envelope with documents and a card number from any country (a stamp is not needed). In France, there were problems with receiving, I sent a letter from Russia. Will there be a refund – I will write later.

Left-luggage offices at the station of Port Nuova are. If you arrived by bus from the airport, go to the station and go right. There will be a small office in front of the cafes on the right side. The price is 6 euros per unit (the first 5 hours, the next hour is 1 euro from 8:00 to 12:00, and 0.5 euro from 12:00 to 22:00). Payment only in cash, you need a passport and your signature in a piece of paper.

From Verona Airport to the train station

Getting from the airport to the city – to the central station of Port Nuova is not difficult – the airport and the station are connected by ATV bus route No. 199. A bus stop is located to the left of the exit from Terminal 2. Buses leave every 20 minutes. You watch the current schedule on the official site https://m.atv.verona.it/#/routes, for 2019 the schedule is valid by link

The fare is 6 € (for 2019). The ticket is valid for 75 minutes, therefore, if necessary, you will have time to transfer to another type of transport and get to where you need to.

You can buy bus tickets:

  • At the airport: vending machines in the arrival hall or at the driver (the driver sells without problems)
  • At the train station: at the ATV ticket office, at the tobacco kiosk, in vending machines on platforms C2 and C3, at the driver (the driver also sells without problems at the same price as at the ticket office).

You can also buy online: https://atv.linkavel.com/en/AcquistoBigliettoAeroporto The ticket is valid for the date selected upon purchase.

Taxi and transfer from Verona Airport

Verona or other cities can also be reached by taxi or transfer. You can take a taxi upon arrival (to the right of the exit from terminal 2) or book a transfer in advance. Pros of a taxi: it will cost a little cheaper than a transfer (but not necessarily), you do not need to book anything in advance. Disadvantages of a taxi: there may be a long queue, and there are few cars (there are such reviews about Verona Airport), the driver most likely will not understand English, may overcharge, since you do not understand anything in Italian, well, the classics of the genre – can ride you around the city (naturally, at your expense). Personally, I’m not in a very good relationship with a taxi and prefer either public transport or booking so that the price is known in advance and there is no need to pay extra.

You can book a transfer, for example, through the kiwitaxi.com service ( my review ) you will already know the exact price and you won’t have to pay anything. Also, you specify the address in advance  and you will not have to explain anything to the taxi driver on your fingers. Perhaps for the price it will cost a little more. But it is worth the time saved. The cost of transfer to Verona is from 42 €, travel time is about 20 minutes.

Also at kiwitaxi you can book transfers to other cities or resorts:

Transfer Verona – Madonna di Campiglio

Transfer Verona – Canazei

Transfer Verona – Ortisei

Transfer Verona – Sirmione

Transfer Verona – Abano Terme

Transfer Verona – Venice

Car rental at Verona Airport

If you prefer not to depend on Italy’s public transport schedule, I recommend you rent a car. You can hire a car at Verona Airport, immediately upon arrival. There are several rental companies at the airport, you can rent on the spot or reserve a car in advance. When renting on the spot, there may not be enough cars, or only the most expensive and unclaimed. Therefore, I recommend to address this issue at home – in a relaxed atmosphere. Examine all offers and rental conditions and book the car that suits you in all respects.

Read my article Car Hire in Italy

I usually book through rentalcars.com, no matter how much I compare prices – it’s cheaper. A small deposit is required. Unfortunately, he does not return, but the car is definitely yours. Do not forget to read reviews about rental companies and rental conditions (collateral, deductible, mileage, etc.) – all wrote in detail in the above article.

Verona Airport Hotels

If you have a late arrival or, conversely, an early departure, you can book a hotel near the airport. By the way, we stayed at B&B Ai Santi (60 euros per night) – a very comfortable place, with a fresh repair and a comfortable bed, great to sleep. Distance to the airport 2.5 km. A good hotel even closer to the airport is DB Hotel Verona Airport And Congress , just 1 km away, plus an airport shuttle is available. Price from 100 € per night with breakfast for two. See all hotels near the airport on booking.com >>>
