Tallinn Airport

Tallinn Airport is located only 4 km from the city center, therefore, there should be no problems how to get to the center.

Official website of Tallinn Airport: https://www.tallinn-airport.ee/

For 2018, Tallinn Airport has only 1 passenger terminal. The scheme of the airport can be found on the official website . There you can see the departure board.

At the airport, all the necessary services are provided. There is a currency exchange, duty free shops, cafes, restaurants, free Wi-Fi.

There are storage rooms (1 € per day for a camera for small items and 2-3 € per day for luggage storage). Left-luggage offices at Tallinn Airport are located on the ground floor. Payment by coins.

There is a tax-free return point at the airport – Global Blue counter.

How to get from Tallinn Airport to the center

To the center of Tallinn by bus

There are two city buses running through Tallinn Airport. To get to the center, you need to use the route number 2 , connecting the city center and the Myygu district. Roundtrip buses stop at the airport terminal. Buses run several times per hour. Tickets can be bought from the driver (2 € for tourists, for city residents travel is free).

Bus number 65 connects the airport with the Laskamäe area. The fare is also 2 €.

Tram number 4 in Tallinn

From September 1, 2017, tram No. 4 was launched, on which you can get from Tallinn Airport to the city center. The tram runs daily from 5: 25-5: 45 to 00:45. Directions 2 €, journey 15-17 minutes.

Taxi / Transfer from Tallinn Airport

The easiest way to get to the center is by taxi or transfer. There is a warning on the airport website that the cost of a kilometer in Estonia is not regulated by law, therefore, when traveling, you need to be careful, check the fare for the driver in advance, and also independently control the route along Google maps (I use maps.me app) .

To avoid such misunderstandings, it is better to book a transfer in advance, fixing its cost and car. In addition, the driver will wait for you even in case of a flight delay. The cost of a transfer from Tallinn Airport to the center, to the port or to the bus station is from 21 € per car. I use this service.

Tallinn Bus Station

Tallinn Bus Station is 2 km from the center of the Old Town at Lastekodu, 46. The bus station location is shown on the map:

If desired, the hotel can be reached on foot. We reached our apartments on foot for 20-25 minutes.

Tallinn Bus Station website: http://www.bussijaam.ee/en/

The bus station is open from 5am to 1am. It looks quite pleasant in appearance, they say that it was recently renovated.

At the bus station there is a waiting room, free wi-fi, left-luggage offices (1-3 euros per day), toilets (30 cents), a departure board and various cafes and other shops. They didn’t buy anything, they didn’t go to the toilet, I can’t give a review.

How to get from Tallinn bus station to the center (to the Old Town)

You can get to the city by taxi / transfer (from 22 euros) and by public transport:

  • Tram number 2 to the stop. Hobujaama
  • Tram No. 4 to Viru or Freedom Square
  • Bus number 17 will take you to the theater “Estonia”
  • A bus number 23 to the stop. Kaubamaja

How to get from Tallinn bus terminal to the port

By bus number 2 (towards the center). Approximately 10 minutes

How to get to Tallinn train station:

Also by bus number 2 to the stop. Balti jaam. It takes about 10 minutes to get there.

Bus station – Pirita district

By public transport you can only get with a change. At the bus station, you need to take tram number 2, number 4 or bus number 23, get to the Viru shopping center, then transfer to buses number 1a, 5, 8, 34a, 38.

If your hotel is located in the Pirita area, you can order the transfer here .

How to get from Tallinn bus terminal to the airport

If you need to get to the airport, then take the bus number 2 (in the direction opposite from the center). You need to literally 3 stops and get off at the Bussijaam stop.

If the time between the arrival of the bus and the departure of your plane is close, it is better to book a transfer in advance (link above).

The fare for public transport for 2018 is 2 euros.
