H + Hotel 4Youth is a good, one of the most budget hotels of this level in Berlin (rating for booking 8.4). Officially, the hotel does not have a star, but focus on about 3 *. For a trip to Berlin for Christmas markets, I was looking for a comfortable, but inexpensive hotel in Berlin. H + Hotel 4Youth turned out to be so.
For 6 nights at this hotel we paid 468 euros.
I must say that the hotel is not in the center, but in a very pleasant area. You can’t imagine a better transport connection with the center and other parts of the city: the M10 tram stop is 20 meters away, the U8 and U2 metro stations are about 7 minutes away (or 1 tram stop). There are 3 non-stop stations to Alexanderplatz, 2 stations also non-stop to the other side of Gezundbrunnen.
Distance to the main attractions:
- Kulturbrauerei Cultural Center (one of the Christmas markets takes place there, local residents recommend it as one of the best in the city) – 800 meters
- Alexanderplatz Square – 2.1 km
- Reichstag – 2.9 km
- East Side Gallery – 4.8 km

There are many cafes and eateries in the area of U2 Eberswalder Straße and Kulturbrauerei stations. One cool family restaurant is 350 meters away. Delicious German food, home-style service (it seems that 3 generations of a family work in this restaurant). I hand over appearances and passwords – Altberliner Restaurant (Fürstenberger Str. 1). We had dinner there 2 times. And such organizations where we go 2 times – count on the fingers 🙂 Therefore, I sincerely recommend it.
How to get to the hotel
Tegel Airport is 7.6 km from the hotel, and Schönefeld Airport is 18.7 km.
It will not be difficult to get there by public transport, of course, if you have not too heavy luggage. From Tegel we got this way: first, on the TXL bus (towards Alexanderplatz) to the Invalidenpark stop (we drove for about 20 minutes), then transfer to the T10 tram to the hotel, stop Wolliner Str. (about 9 minutes).
Schönefeld Airport can be reached by train RE-7 from the Bahnhof Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld station to Berlin Central, and there you can transfer to the same M10 tram and get to the hotel (Wolliner Str. Stop).
The easiest way to get from the center is on the U8 underground station, Bernauer Straße Station.
Check-in and a room
Check in at the hotel from 15:00. We arrived at the hotel about 16 hours, therefore, settled us immediately. The reception is very nice staff, friendly and helpful, English is well spoken. If you have questions, they try to help.
The room we had was the simplest, standard. The room is small, but given that we arrived only in the evening, there was enough space.
The beds are very comfortable, pillows too.
The heating in the room is regulated, it can be heated to maximum, it will not be cold to sleep, even stuffy. At first, we kept the heating on all the time, then we started to turn it down.
There is a small type of wardrobe (shelves) and a small telly.
The bathroom has a shower, sink, toilet. Towels are changed if dropped to the floor (but sometimes changed if saw that you used towels).
There are some cosmetics, but not in a mini format. I’m not critical, because I always carry my cosmetics with me.
I didn’t have enough tea in my room to just have tea in the evening. On the upper floors there are rooms of a higher category, and so in them there are teapots.
Hotel amenities and meals
Wifi in the rooms is free, normal, enough for everything.
Through the reception you can rent bicycles, 12 euros per day.
Also at the reception there is a bar, you can drink beer or coffee. The bar is round the clock.
The price includes breakfast buffet. I must say, for a hotel at such a price, a decent breakfast: there is hot (omelet, sausages), a large selection of cheese, ham, pastries, yogurts, berries, jams, cereals, milk, fruits. Tea, coffee, juice.
I didn’t take a photo on purpose, but this one only remained on the phone.
Photo booking real:
As already mentioned above, the hotel cost us 468 euros for 6 nights (78 euros per night), in December 2018. I look at the spring of 2019 – from 85 euros per night, the comfort room from 103 euros. When compared with similar hotels, then this is one of the most budget options.
