In today’s article I’ll tell you about the symbol of Paris – the Eiffel Tower. How to get to the Eiffel Tower, how to buy a ticket without waiting in line, which restaurant or hotel with a view of the tower to choose.
Eiffel Tower in Paris
Eiffel Tower Official Website: https://www.toureiffel.paris/en
First, some background information. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 by designer Gustave Eiffel. Since it was built as an entrance arch to the Paris World’s Fair, it was planned that the tower would last only 20 years (until 1909), and then it would be dismantled. But these plans were not destined to come true: the tower was a huge commercial success, and it was decided to leave the tower.
Today the Eiffel Tower is the most popular and most photographed attraction in the world! Until now, the tower remains the tallest building in Paris and the fifth tallest building in France. The height of the tower is 324 meters (the initial height is about 300 meters).
The first floor of the tower is 54 meters high (THE 58 TOUR EIFFEL restaurant is located here), the height of the observation deck of the second floor is 116 meters, the Michelin-starred restaurant THE JULES VERNE is located, the peak is at a height of 276 meters.
How to get to the Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is located on the Champ de Mars, on the Branly embankment. The nearest metro stations are Bir Hakeim, Passy (line 6), Trocadéro (line 9), and the train station Gare du Pont de l’Alma. To reach the Eiffel Tower from any central area of the city, you can use one of these metro lines or the city electric train (RER C). You can also get there by bus: routes 42, 69, 82 or 87 to Champ de Mars, routes 22, 30, 32, 63 or 72 to Trocadéro.

You can get to the Eiffel Tower from Charles de Gaulle Airport with a change on the city electric train (RER B + RER C), without transfers – by bus Le Bus Direct Line 2 (18 Euro), group transfer (the price is the same, my review is here ) or individual transfer (50 euro per car, my review is here ).

How to buy Eiffel Tower tickets online
First, a little about the lineup. Do not forget that the tower is the most visited attraction in the world , therefore, there will be lines in any season, at any time of the year . In the summer, of course, there are many times more queues, but in January, if you do not buy a ticket in advance, you can lose half an hour or an hour.
The first phase accumulates in front of the inspection area. For those who have purchased tickets, a separate queue. If you see a small queue for inspection, you will think that you can go without a ticket and quickly buy a ticket at the box office, then you are very mistaken. When I saw the line at the box office (in January!), I was in shock. I’m afraid to imagine what is going on there during the high season!
I went through a pre-purchased ticket, spent about 5 minutes on inspection, saved at least 30 minutes at the ticket office, spent about 10 minutes on waiting for an elevator.
Buying a ticket to the Eiffel Tower is the easiest (and cheaper) on the official website. Go to https://www.toureiffel.paris/en/rates-opening-times , determine which floor you want to go up, on foot or on the elevator and press the Buy a ticket button

Tour to the Eiffel Tower
You can visit the Eiffel Tower not only on your own, but also with a guide as part of the tour. Here are a few options:
Restaurants and cafes on the Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower has 2 restaurants and 3 cafes.
The 58 TOUR EIFFEL restaurant is located at an altitude of 58 meters on the first level of the tower. The place is tourist. Lunch from 39 €, dinner from 86 € per person. You can book a table through the official website of the restaurant or through a special tourist service (priority access to the elevator to the tower is included).
The THE JULES VERNE restaurant is located one floor higher – on the second level of the tower (125 meters above the ground). Overlooking Paris, you can enjoy fine French cuisine in a romantic setting. The restaurant is awarded a Michelin star. Access is only possible by prior reservation. You can do this through the official website.
Restaurant prices are high, above average in the city. If you have limited finances, you can visit the cafe on the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
CHAMPAGNE BAR – here you can have a glass of champagne overlooking Paris. Located on level 3 at an altitude of 276 meters. The price for a glass is from 13 to 22 €.
BUFFETS are small cafes where you can easily have a bite to eat. The prices here are more affordable than in restaurants, but still do not forget that this is the Eiffel Tower and it will not work too cheap to eat. Buffets are located on the second and third levels.
MACAROON BAR is open on the second level of the tower. As the name suggests, you can try the French pasta here.
Restaurants overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
The most popular restaurants overlooking the Eiffel Tower are Les ombres, Maison Blanche and L’Oiseau Blanc. I wrote more about them (as well as about the price level in these establishments) in an article about restaurants .
