I want to make a small overview of the viewing platforms in Rome, from which you can see the city in full view. So let’s go.

Probably the most popular viewing platform in Rome is the site of Capitoline Hill. It overlooks the historic Rome-Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Palatine. The Capitol Square, and, accordingly, the Capitol itself are located in the very center of Rome. You can go up from Piazza Venezia (leaving the Palace of Venice on the right and the Forum of Trajan on the left) – this is one of three possible ways. I personally visited Capitol Hill and Capitol Square (Piazza Campidoglio) only this year, although it is here that the symbol of Rome is located – the statue of the Capitoline Wolf (to be more precise, this is a copy of the statue, the original is in the Capitol Museum).

At the top of the hill is Capitol Square (with a statue of Marcus Aurelius in the middle), as well as the Palace of Senators, the Palace of the Conservatives, the New Palace, as well as the Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracheli. Capitoline Hill – this is the place that is usually visited when you first get acquainted with the city. But I usually do not like normal people))))

If you are walking around the Roman Forum, go to the Palatine Hill, from there you will see such a view of Rome

Without going far, another viewing platform of Rome – from the Palatine hill overlooks the whole of Rome. To find a site, you must go through the entire Roman Forum (entrance fee, a single ticket with a visit to the Coliseum). A walk around the forum is quite curious and enjoyable (unless, of course, you run into the heat!), You can even take sandwiches with you and have a snack somewhere under Roman pines, or on some centuries-old bench (depending on your preferences)

The most beautiful, in my opinion, view of Rome opens from the viewing platform of Rome at the entrance to Villa Borghese. This place was opened for me last year by my countrywoman, who has been living in Rome for several years and seems to know all its beautiful places. I am glad that there are not so many people here. How to find this place? From the square at the Spanish Steps you need to go up (you can do it on foot along the stairs, or by elevator, which is located at the Spagna metro station – in front of the metro entrance on the right) Go up and go left. Along the way, there will be temptations to photograph through the foliage, a barely showing view, but be patient, go to the very entrance to the park, it is from there that a view will be opened that will take your breath away, even from the most experienced traveler.

Aventine Hill and Orange Garden – a place worth visiting

Are you a fan of non-banal places like me? Then the next 2 viewing platforms in Rome are for you! For example, you can escape from the bustle of the entire city to a quiet place with a minimum of tourists, but a maximum of local residents. Empty streets, a shady orange garden, an Italian grandfather roasting corn (whom he is so sorry when he begins to worry that the corn is burnt), an ancient fountain that seems to have witnessed medieval passions …. And with all this, get a gorgeous view of the city , where, probably, oh how romantic to see the sunset! And here there is a unique attraction – a keyhole, which shows the territory of three states at once! Are you intrigued? This place is Aventine Hill, to get there you need to make a little effort, but the atmosphere of this place will make you forget about fatigue. What to see in Rome (best attractions) .

View from the Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica – the best view of Rome

And finally, another viewing platform of Rome (I’m sure not the last and Rome still has something to surprise me) – the Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. Where is the best place to see the panorama of the city? Of course, from its very center! The Vatican, while outside of Rome and outside of Italy, is simultaneously located in its very center. Therefore, climbing to the Dome of the Cathedral, you will see Rome in full view! Come early to avoid crowds of tourists (although this place is not much advertised in Russian travel guides and blogs of Russian travelers, so the crowd effect is created due to the fact that there is very little space on the dome). You will also have to apply a little effort to get there, on top of the World.Rome, therefore, stock up on a bottle of water, and, of course, do not forget to dress accordingly (knees, shoulders and stomach should be closed). I have already written more about my impressions of visiting this site. In short, I really liked it, and I would definitely go there again. What I wish you too! Choose the best sites, visit them all and compare, find your best site, discover a new one, travel, because the world is beautiful because you can travel!
