Prague areas

To help you better navigate, I’ll tell you about the central areas of Prague. It is here that I recommend booking accommodation.

For clarity, a tourist map of the center indicating the historical areas:

Prague areas

Prague 1. This is the center of Prague. This area includes the historic areas of Josefov, Stare Mesto, Hradcany, part of the Mala Strana district and the upper part of Nove Mesto. Housing prices in Prague-1 are the highest, however, you can find interesting options even for budget travelers. Hotels in the Prague 1 area >>> .

Prague 2. This area includes Nove Mesto, Vinohrady, Vysehrad. Hotels in Prague 2 >>>

Prague-3: areas Zizkov, partially Vinohrady, Vysocany, Strasnice. Hotels in Prague 3 >>> .

Prague-5 is located on the western bank of the Vltava River, borders on Mala Strana and includes Smichov, Motol, Kosire and others. The area closest to the center is Smichov, therefore, if you book a hotel in Prague-5, then choose Smichov. Hotels in Smichov >>>

Other areas are far from the center, if you are arriving in Prague for tourist purposes, I do not recommend staying away from the tourist center. Below I will give my selection of hotels in central Prague. All are located in the historic districts of Stare Mesto and Mala Strana.

I took all prices from the website and at the time of your reservation (especially in high season) prices may vary! All prices are per night for a double room.

Apartments in the center of Prague

If you want an inexpensive stay in the center of Prague, you can book an apartment. This is also an ideal option if you are traveling with a large family or company, since 6 people can live in an apartment, and the price will be proportional to the price of only one hotel room. Apartments are usually equipped with everything you need – a kitchen, a washing machine, sometimes even a dishwasher.

Apartments in Prague have a huge selection for every taste and budget. You can book either through the above booking, or through specialized services – and When I compared these two services , it was in Prague that it turned out that there were 3 times more home-housing options than airbendby.

Despite this, I personally prefer to book on airbnb. If you have not used the service and are planning to book through it, register using my link , then you will receive a discount of 22 euros on your first reservation. In the future, you can also invite your friends – for this service will charge you coupons.

Prices for apartments in the center of Prague start from 42 € for two per day.

How to book a hotel in Prague on your own

If this is your first trip on your own and you are afraid to book your accommodation on your own, I recommend that you read this article here , there I talk about 5 services for self-booking of accommodation. All services are reliable.

I usually book hotels on, and apartments through airbnb. For rental housing on airbnb, you can read my reviews:

My main recommendations for booking hotels and apartments:

  • Read reviews (I do not recommend focusing on reviews on services such as tripadvisor or tophotels)
  • To clarify what is included in the price, what time is arrival and departure from the hotel
  • Book rooms with free cancellation. In case plans change, or you find a more suitable hotel. A couple of days before arrival, you can check the prices for this hotel – if the price is lower, you can rebook or choose the option without cancellation (it is usually cheaper), and cancel this reservation.
